Gemstone facets and proportions must be considered when choosing a suitable setting. Very thin girdles need to be treaded delicately. In bezel settings only a small portion of the crown must be covered with metal. The gemstone must be set level from all angles. The culet must not protrude below the setting or touch the finger.
